The community of Moore County is mourning the tragic deaths of Antonio Jamal Brown, 41, of Raeford, and Jamar Brooks Hailey, 43, of Aberdeen. Both men were fatally shot Sunday evening in the Jackson Hamlet community, leaving family, friends, and neighbors grieving their sudden loss.

According to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residence in the 100 block of Gaines Street around 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they discovered both men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say an autopsy will be conducted by the North Office of the Medical Examiner to determine the official cause and manner of death. Investigators have identified a person of interest believed to be connected to the incident, though that individual has not yet been located and is not currently considered a suspect. Early findings suggest the shooting was not random and that the person of interest was known to the victims.
The loss of Brown and Hailey has deeply affected the Moore County community. Loved ones and neighbors are remembering them as respected members of their communities whose lives ended far too soon.
As the investigation continues, deputies remain active in the Jackson Hamlet area, working to gather more information and bring clarity to what happened. Meanwhile, the community continues to offer prayers, support, and condolences to the families of both men during this difficult time.
